YDSP Receives the Taos Blue Lake Indigenous Spirit Award

Americans for Indian Opportunity (AIO) awarded the Taos Blue Lake Indigenous Spirit Award to the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo on
Wednesday, July 10, 2013.

The Pueblo was honored for its commitment to promoting self-sufficiency
and empowering their community to thrive in the contemporary world
while preserving their cultural identity.

LaDonna Harris, founder and president of AIO, said, "Their [YDSP]
commitment to preserving a traditional culture and a strong identity through their Nation Building process deserves to be recognized and celebrated."

On hand, to receive the award, were Carlos Hisa, YDSP Lt. Governor,
Rafael Gomez, Roberto Pedraza, III, and Bernardo Gonzales, YDSP Council Members, and Patricia Riggs, YDSP EDD Director.
