The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Department of Human Services is located in the Community Health Center.  The Human Services Department (HSD) serves as the parent agency to the Social Services Department, the Elder’s Center, the Tuy Pathu Day Care Center, and the Alcohol Substance Abuse Center

Social Services Department -The Social Services Department (SSD) is tasked with improving the quality of life for the pueblo.  The departments under the human services umbrella work as a team to meet the needs of the community.  The program’s goals are to provide individuals and families with life skills mechanisms; preserve family settings; and whenever possible, prevent the placement of children away from tribal families.  A primary function of the SSD is Monitoring and Advocacy Services targeted at enrolled tribal members in need of assistance.  This program conducts in depth needs assessments, prioritizes needs, and provides advocacy services.  SSD also administers the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) program.  Passed in 1978, the Act mandates specific requirements in Indian child custody matters.
