Tigua/IBM Technology Center
The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo (YDSP) is pleased to announce the establishment of the Tigua/IBM Technology Center. The technology center is a project made possible through assistance provided by the Hope and Harmony for Humanity Initiative. This initiative is a partnership between IBM, SeniorNet, the Native American Chamber of Commerce, the Department of the Interior, and Microsoft. The purpose of the partnership is to empower the tribe to bridge the digital divide. The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo has entered into a collaborative partnership with the renowned organizations to enhance the tribal community’s technical capacity.
The partners will provide equipment, support, curriculum, training and other resources to assist the pueblo in its computer literacy goals. The pueblo will provide the commitment, support and long-term resources to ensure the achievement center’s success. The aim of this project is to meet the special needs of the pueblo community and to help strengthen the level of computer literacy to support youth and adult computer technology education.

The Tigua/IBM Technology Center works closely with children attending the Tuy Pathu Preschool Program. Children between the ages of 3-4, utilize the technology center to enhance their learning capabilities, along with the fundamentals of using a computer. Educational software, websites, and hands on training, are some of the techniques used in preparing the young tribal preschoolers for future growth. Along with the nine computers stationed at the Tigua/IBM Technology Center, the new Young Explorer Computer Center provides the children with a unique experience in using a computer. The station is a more user friendly computer that offers a color coded flat keyboard, and a custom miniature mouse.
