Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo Brownfield Assessment (Hazardous) Project 

YDSP possesses a number of properties that are considered Brownfields areas. With limited resources to expand YDSP property ownership it is critical that these properties undergo assessment and remediation. The properties that will potentially undergo revitalization will be used for economic, residential, and/or green space uses. We will work closely with YDSP Economic Development Department and also the YDSP Housing Department to determine the most viable properties for revival and also try to utilize new building methods to efficiently use resources, (energy, water, etc.) reduce waste, pollution and environmental degradation.

Goals for the Brownfields Project for Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo:

• EMO intends to complete at least five Phase I ESAs including lead and asbestos assessments, and 2 Phase II ESAs
• Establish a Brownfields Selection Committee
• Distribute quarterly updates to the community through the Environmental newsletter
• Prepare a Brownfields Property Plan for each site assessed  
• Develop an approach for facilitation of cleanup and/or redevelopment of two Brownfield sites during the project
